How To Find New Relic License Key and App Name

Before you install or integrate New Relic APM with Magento 2, you need a New Relic account, a License Key, and an App Name. These allow your Magento 2 application to connect securely with the New Relic dashboard for real-time performance monitoring.
In this quick guide, you’ll learn how to create a New Relic account, find New Relic License Key, and set your App Name properly.

Steps To Find New Relic License Key and App Name

Step 1: Create a New Relic Account

If you don’t already have a New Relic account, here’s how to create one for free:

  1. Visit https://newrelic.com/signup.
  2. Choose the Free account plan (no credit card required).
  3. Fill in your details (name, email, password).
  4. Verify your email address.
  5. After signing in, you’ll be redirected to the New Relic One dashboard.

💡 Tip: The free plan gives you access to 1 full user and all essential APM features — perfect for Magento developers or small teams.

Step 2: Log in to Your New Relic Account

Once your account is active, go to https://one.newrelic.com and log in.
Click your profile icon → API Keys in the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 3: Copy (or Create) Your New Relic License Key

In the API Keys section, look for a key labeled License key.

If you don’t see one, you can easily create a new License Key:

  1. Click + Create a key.
  2. Select Key type → License.
  3. Give it a short, clear name.
  4. Click Create key, then copy the generated key.

💡 Tip: Each License Key can be used for multiple servers, but it’s best to create different keys for staging and production environments for better management.

Step 4: Copy Your New Relic License Key And App Name

In the API Keys section, look for a key labeled Name. This is your App Name.

Your App Name is what identifies your Magento 2 store inside New Relic’s dashboard.
It helps you separate environments like production, staging, or development.

Click Copy key ID, then save this key securely — you’ll use it during installation.

Creating a New Relic account and retrieving your License Key and App Name are the first steps toward monitoring Magento 2 performance. With these ready, you can integrate New Relic APM on Ubuntu and gain full visibility into your store’s behavior.
