How To Create User Role In Magento 2

You can allow or restrict the account from accessing the administrator functions. This is very useful if your store has a lot of employees working on different functions. To do this, first of all, you need to create a user role, I will guide you to do that in How To Create User Role In Magento 2.

What is User Role?

User role is permission granted to new users to limit or grant access to the Magento 2 admin configuration.

Before adding any users to your store you should create a user role. The purpose of this is to decentralize, secure your store, avoid getting information and configuration changes from those people.

Fortunately, Magento 2 provides you with a very smart and intuitive permissions management system, you can easily configure it with just the steps below.

Steps To Create User Role In Magento 2

Step 1: Login to Admin Panel.

Step 2: Choose SYSTEM -> Permissions -> User Roles.

Step 3: Click to Add New Role.

Step 4: In the Role Info section, Fill in the following information:

  • Under Role Information, enter a descriptive Role Name.
  • Under Current User Identity Verification, enter Your Password.

Step 5: Assign resources in the Role Resources section.

Set Role Scopes to one of the following:

  • All: sets all permissions for the user role.
  • Custom: In the tree, select the checkbox of each Admin Resource that the role can access.

To create an Admin role with access to tax settings, choose both the Sales/Tax and System/Tax resources. If setting up a website for a region that differs from your default shipping point of origin, you must allow access to the System/Shipping resources for the role. The shipping settings determine the store tax rate that is used for catalog prices.

The list of available permissions may include additional options for Magento developed, Core Bundled, and installed extensions. By selecting the top-most permission for each feature, you assign all permissions available for the user.

Step 6: When complete, click Save Role.
